Silent Theatre's 5th Anniversary!

Silent Theatre is turning 5 and we are celebrating by putting on one helluva Wild Party Variety Hour!

Saturday, August 28th at 10:30p at Prop Thtr, we will party, drink, dance, entertain, entice, seduce, thrill, chill, sing, laugh, urge, stimulate and celebrate and it would be absolutely shameful and devastating if you are not there! This variety show is not the one to miss. Followed by a party 'til you drop, dance 'til you swea...t, drink 'til you puke (or at least 'til you feel like it)!

It'll be the last time hosts Marvin Eduardo Quijada and Nathan Paul will perform 'til next year! It'll be the best time to support our very own Lady Jack as she will rock her burlesque heart at NY Burlesque Fest and New Orleans Burlesque Fest! It'll be the first time since Oona Tramp Matt Massaro returns to the stage after major surgery! It'll be a great time to see some of WPVH's returning stars Brett Schneider, Brad French, Jess Godwin, Jeez Loueez and of course our resident musical sass Kyle Greer! It'll simply be a night to remember.

Two days only. February 12th and 13th. 9:00p. The Valentine's Day Massacre-SilentTheatre style. Because we're in Chicago. And it's V-Day. And it's history. And imagination. And Rhino Fest is hosting us. And we're psyched.

The company said to be the "Dirtiest fun in Chicago Theatre” is back at it again with a new incarnation of The Wild Party Variety Hour, showcasing a lineup of Chicago’s finest, freshest , and feisty-est (we made that up) variety entertainers. Performers strut their stuff in an ever-changing line-up, including such characters as mime extraordinaire Dean Evans, and live action cartooning by the Oona Tramps. No plot, no special effects, just pure entertainment. Ranging from burlesque to modern day vaudeville to solo performance and stage combat, this one hour variety show is sure to have something for everyone.

Howdy Y'all!

This is the final weekend of Carnival Nocturne at the Storefront Theatre.

If you haven't made it out to see it, please do. Ultimately, for all the pictures we take or video we record, it is a live, living, breathing, beautiful play that will only exist as a complete whole entity for one more weekend. Then we will all go our seperate ways and it will exist only in little snapshots, in photos or on paper.

Please, come be a witness to all the creative energy that has been put into this project!

The 24 Hour Play Fest coming this weekend!

Here are the details:
Friday at 8p, 6 directors, 6 writers and 18 actors meet. Their names are drawn out of a hat and so are their theatrical obstructions. For this special halloween edition, each writer will have a theatrical genre and a halloween theme to write about. Then the writer goes home to scribe. At 5am, the scripts are emailed. At 7am, the directors and actors begin reading, blocking, memorizing lines, learning songs, pulling out their hair, biting their nails and creating magic. At 5pm, the plays go through a speed tech. At 7:30p, the house opens. At 8p, the magic begins.

We have restarted our blog yet again with the promise that this time, this time, it will be updated on a regular basis so that adventures are logged. As we embark on year five, great sense of pride and a thrilling sensation on excitement pumps through the veins and pours through the pores.
